It would need some seriously intricate webbing to hold up to the torque load and the impacts involved with MT's It would also have to deal with deflection just due to steering a 3-1/2' wide tire. Look at the second photo but look past the tire on the curb to the tire on the other side and see how much those webs are flexing just because the tire is steered. And that's just a 7-8" wide tire. It is a neat idea though.

Perhaps a light-weight webbing system could be "molded" in or bonded inside an existing 66 to make them less flimsy? I've also thought about foam filling, or at least partial foam filling a tire.
